By using a scalable pipeline we created a Machine learning model that can be used to predict side effects in patients before they get prescribed a medication based on data from their EHR. We are specialising in reducing inequalities in healthcare and therefore targeting medication disproportionately affecting women and minorities. Of all reported side effects, 70% are reported by women and 2/3 of drugs removed from market are due to unacceptable side effects in women. On a societal scale, every year in Europe 192 000 people die due to side effects costing the EU 79 billion euros every year. Predicting these side effects from happening is prevention and treatment at it’s finest placing patients at the centre.
