Exploring Old Dubai: MedTech World Dubai 2025 Attendees Recharge Before the Big Stage
A lively crowd of MedTech World Dubai 2025 attendees stepped away from the conference halls and into the rich history of Old Town Dubai earlier today, immersing themselves in the city’s cultural heartbeat. Powered by Visit Malta, the tour offered a refreshing break before the day of high-impact discussions on healthcare and technology. From the moment attendees boarded the buses at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City, excitement filled the air as they prepared for an afternoon exploring Dubai’s storied past.
A Walk Through Time at Al Seef
The journey began at Al Seef, where attendees were transported into a world that beautifully blends Dubai’s heritage with modern waterfront charm. As they walked through the district’s winding alleys, the contrast between traditional architecture and contemporary influences sparked conversations about innovation and legacy—an appropriate theme for a gathering of MedTech visionaries.
Exploring Al Fahidi: Dubai’s Historic Heart
Next, the group ventured into the Al Fahidi neighborhood, a district that whispers stories of a bygone era through its well-preserved wind-tower houses and shaded courtyards. Attendees wandered through its narrow lanes, soaking in the atmosphere of one of Dubai’s oldest residential areas. The charm of the district, with its sand-colored buildings and art galleries tucked away in hidden corners, provided a striking contrast to the sleek, futuristic skyline visible in the distance.
Sailing Across the Creek on an Abra
No visit to Old Dubai is complete without an abra ride across the historic Dubai Creek. Attendees climbed aboard the traditional wooden boats and drifted across the water, taking in the views of bustling souks on one side and the towering minarets and historic merchant houses on the other. The gentle sway of the boats and the rhythmic sound of water lapping against the sides created a rare moment of stillness in an otherwise energetic day.
A Feast for the Senses at the Spice and Gold Souks
Stepping off the abra, the group dove into the vibrant chaos of the Spice Souq, where the air was thick with the scents of cinnamon, saffron, and dried roses. MedTech professionals accustomed to high-tech labs and sterile environments found themselves captivated by the centuries-old trade traditions still alive in these narrow alleyways.
A short walk away, the Gold Souq dazzled with its endless rows of glittering displays. Attendees admired elaborate jewelry pieces and marveled at the sheer scale of Dubai’s gold trade. Some took the opportunity to test their negotiation skills, while others simply enjoyed the spectacle of craftsmanship on display.
A Picture-Perfect Stop at Jumeirah Mosque
The tour concluded with a brief stop at Jumeirah Mosque, one of Dubai’s most photographed landmarks. With its intricate white façade glowing in the afternoon sun, it provided the perfect backdrop for a group photo before attendees returned to their buses. Bottled water, thoughtfully provided for the journey, was a welcome refreshment as they reflected on an afternoon well spent.
Beyond Business
By the time the buses pulled back into the InterContinental Dubai Festival City, the attendees had not just explored Dubai’s past but had also formed new connections, shared stories, and strengthened relationships. As the day drew to a close, attendees took a moment to relax and unwind, immersing themselves in Dubai’s rich traditions before turning their focus back to the conference. With healthcare and technology set to take center stage tomorrow, today’s cultural journey provided the perfect reset before diving into innovation and industry-shaping discussions.
