Innovative Startups Take the Stage: Labena Ventures Highlights 12 Rising Stars at MedTech Malta 2024

Labena Ventures is set to bring 12 promising startups to pitch on stage at MedTech Malta 2024, reflecting its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation in the Biotech, Healthtech, Medtech, Pharmatech and other related fields. Founded in 2023 by Boštjan Čeh, Borut Čeh & Dr. Nedeljko Milosavljević, and spun of from Labena Group, Labena Ventures is a corporate accelerator program that aims to empower and accelerate startups in their journey to global success.

Labena Ventures actively promotes startup growth in 17 countries across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), representing a market of over 109 million people. It welcomes high-potential startups from beyond the region as well, offering a comprehensive platform that helps startups access business opportunities through customized programs, mentorship from over 160 global mentors, and access to an extensive network of investors and industry partners. The accelerator currently supports 22 startups, including 10 from its 2023 cohort and 12 from its most recent 2024 group.

1. 365care.io; Telemon: A certified universal remote patient monitoring solution, Telemon provides real-time health monitoring and personalized care plans. With use cases ranging from chronic care management to virtual hospitals, it is designed to enhance patient outcomes, enable better data collection, and support healthcare providers in optimizing resource allocation.

2. Biolibrary srls: Biolibrary is at the forefront of orthopedic care innovation with its MERGE3D platform, a cloud-based solution for automating customized orthopedic product production using 3D printing. The platform addresses challenges such as high production costs, long wait times, and suboptimal fit, offering rapid and personalized orthopedic solutions.

3. FeJuice: This startup addresses anemia through natural, scientifically-proven formulations. FeJuice offers a unique blend of fruits and vegetables in bar and powder form, designed to enhance iron absorption without the side effects associated with conventional supplements.

4. FitKit: A leader in corporate wellness solutions, FitKit offers a blend of subscription and pay-per-use fitness services. With a focus on flexibility and cost-effectiveness, it provides access to over 1,000 services, including gyms, yoga classes, mental health support, and spa treatments. Their solution is scalable and ideal for businesses of various sizes, enabling HR departments to track wellness engagement through detailed reports.

5. GMD-R Ltd; LLC GRYSHCHUK MEDICAL DEVICES: This company has developed the Meniscal Resector, an innovative electrosurgery instrument designed for the treatment of knee meniscus injuries. The device aims to provide faster, easier, and safer procedures for patients.

6. Neofunction: A research and development company, Neofunction is known for its innovative and aesthetically-driven solutions. Among their offerings is Neo Pill, Europe’s top health innovation in orthodontic oral hygiene, showcasing their commitment to revolutionizing industry standards. 

7. PhycoFerm: This B2B company specializes in providing bioactive, functional ingredients derived from microalgae for food and nutraceutical applications. Using AI-driven precision fermentation and advanced strain development, PhycoFerm delivers sustainable, high-quality ingredients to enhance product appeal for health-conscious consumers.

8. Shemha Health Ltd.: Shemha Health is dedicated to supporting cancer patients through its digital platform, PrOPA™ (Precision Oncology Patient Advice). This solution leverages cutting-edge digital technologies to offer precise clinical guidance and help patients navigate oncology care.

9. Vinaver Medical: Utilizing advanced spectral CT technology, Vinaver Medical enhances the accuracy of particle therapy for cancer patients. Its solution aims to improve treatment precision by up to 75%, facilitating more effective therapy and expanding insurance coverage options.

10. Vivid Mind: Focused on early dementia detection, Vivid Mind utilizes voice-based biomarkers to identify cognitive disorders. Their smartphone-based solution integrates seamlessly into existing medical processes, offering quick assessments that facilitate timely diagnosis and intervention.

11. Walletmed: Specializing in multi-metabolite monitoring biosensors, Walletmed’s technology supports diagnosis, prevention, and prediction of health conditions, enabling users to manage their health more effectively.

12. WAVE: A blue tech startup, WAVE focuses on producing sustainable packaging materials from seaweed. Its renewable marine resources offer a biodegradable alternative to traditional plastics, contributing to reduced pollution and a smaller carbon footprint.
