Malta to boost Med-Tech startups with €100,000 grant up for grabs

Malta could be the destination for your Med-Tech startup with €100,000 up for grabs via the TAKEOFF Seed Fund Awards 2021

Need funding for your Med-Tech startup? Malta seeks to attract entrepreneurs with €100,000 grant to be distributed between start-ups and academics in bid to springboard their businesses or ideas.

The TAKEOFF Seed Fund Award 2021 is a joint initiative between the Ministry for the Economy and Industry (MEI) and the University of Malta, supported by the Knowledge Transfer Office, Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation and the TAKEOFF Business Incubator.
A total of €100,000 will be distributed between start-ups and academics and will go towards the commercialisation of their business or research idea. Furthermore, grants between €2,500 and €25,000 will be awarded to the selected projects.
Med-Tech entrepreneurs may apply for seed funds which will enable a step-change in taking their independent technology or knowledge-based start-up closer to the first customer or investment.
Given Malta’s strong regulatory framework for the advancement of digital health and blockchain technology, Malta is gearing to become a Med-Tech hub of Europe and attract more start-ups through this initiative. Previously, Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Chris Fearne sat down with Med-Tech World to discuss the Med-Tech advancements Malta is pioneering and emphasises the potential for international investment.

How to apply?

In order to be considered, all applicants must attend the online TAKEOFF or Knowledge Transfer Office workshop  organised as part of the TAKEOFF Seed Fund Award application process. These will provide an overview of the application process and furnish the applicant on the tools needed for creating a competitive proposal.
