MedTech Innovator reveals 65 startups within 2024 Accelerator Cohort
“Having evaluated thousands of applicants since November, I can tell you definitively that the 2024 MedTech Innovator Cohort represents the best emerging startups around the globe.”
– Paul Grand, CEO and Founder, MedTech Innovator
How does a startup distinguish itself in the fiercely competitive world of medical technology? What impact does joining the elite 2024 MedTech Innovator Cohort have on its future prospects? Let’s talk about MedTech Innovator’s Thursday announcement, revealing the 65 companies that are making up its 2024 Accelerator Cohort.
The 2024 Accelerator Cohort
MedTech Innovator revealed its 2024 Accelerator Cohort on Thursday, selecting 65 startups from a competitive pool with a 5% acceptance rate. These companies will gain unparalleled access to industry experts, investors, and healthcare leaders in the four-month program, enhancing their visibility and growth prospects.
At the end of the MTI accelerator program, cohort companies will compete for audience votes at top industry conferences, vying for $800,000 in non-dilutive funding.
“Our accelerator has become the gold standard, thanks to our industry-leading track record of identifying and refining the most innovative medtech startups in the world,”
stated Paul Grand, CEO and Founder of MedTech Innovator.
Grand illustrated how, since the launch of MedTech Innovator, its over 600 graduates have achieved 310 FDA approvals and secured $8 billion in follow-on funding. He emphasised that after evaluating thousands of applicants, the 2024 cohort stands out as the best emerging startups globally.
“We are excited to spend the next four months with our industry-leading corporate partners and industry experts, to help these entrepreneurs advance their medical device, diagnostic and digital health innovations to improve the lives of millions.”
Some statistics on the Cohort
For the 2024 Accelerator, approximately 1,300 companies applied, with 15% (192) advancing to MedTech Innovator’s Road Tour in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Dublin, Ireland.
In these locations, startups received feedback from over 300 industry experts. Based on these evaluations, MTI’s strategic partners, including Asahi Intecc, BD, Dexcom, Edwards Lifesciences, Johnson & Johnson, NIPRO, Olympus, W. L. Gore & Associates, and Zimmer Biomet, selected 65 companies for the cohort, representing 14 U.S. states and 16 countries.
This year’s accelerator includes:
- 5 companies in the MTI/ASPS Plastic Surgery Accelerator;
- 5 in the Heart and Brain Health Accelerator with the American Heart Association;
- 5 in the Military Medicine track.
These opportunities involve the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium, where each company will be receiving specialised mentorship and additional event opportunities.
