MedTech World Asia 2026 crossed the border into Shenzhen on 29 August, taking delegates from Hong Kong to the Greater Bay Area for a day of company visits and industry exchange.
Sponsored by Smart City of China, the tour brought the group to Mindray in the morning and Lifotronic in the afternoon. The day moved away from the conference floor and into the companies themselves, with delegates attending corporate briefings, asking questions, touring facilities and seeing medical technologies up close.
The Mindray visit started at the entrance, where delegates walked past a Chinese-style koi pond before making their way through the main gate and into the company’s headquarters.
The group first gathered for a corporate presentation led by Mindray’s Director of International Public Affairs. The session introduced delegates to the company and its international business, before opening into a Q&A.
Delegates took the opportunity to ask questions, including issues related to different markets and the challenges of international expansion. The discussion offered a chance to hear directly from a company representative with experience across international markets, while delegates could raise topics relevant to their own interests in China and Asia.
The presentation was followed by a guided visit to Mindray’s facilities. Delegates toured the laboratory before heading to the exhibition hall, where they saw a selection of the company’s medical devices and healthcare solutions.
Professional product demonstrations were also part of the visit, giving the group a closer look at how some of the technologies are used in healthcare settings.
The afternoon programme continued at Lifotronic’s headquarters. Delegates gathered in the company’s main conference room for an introduction to the company’s business, products, and solutions.
The presentation was followed by a tour of the showroom and R&D Centre. Delegates moved through the exhibition space, exploring the products and technologies on display and getting a closer look at the work behind the company’s medical technology portfolio.
The visit also included a hands-on VR experience on the exhibition floor. Delegates were able to try the technology for themselves, adding a more interactive element to the afternoon.
With the group moving around the showroom and R&D facilities, the visit provided time to look at the products in person and speak with the Lifotronic team about what was on display.
The two visits gave delegates different views of Shenzhen’s medical technology industry.
At Mindray, the morning combined a corporate presentation and market-focused Q&A with a guided tour, product demonstrations and visits to the laboratory and exhibition hall. At Lifotronic, the afternoon moved from a company and product briefing into its showroom and R&D Centre, followed by hands-on time with the technology on display.
For delegates, much of the value came from seeing the companies’ operations firsthand. After two days of discussions and networking at MedTech World Asia 2026 in Hong Kong, the tour provided participants with a different setting to continue those conversations.
It also offered a closer look at the companies and facilities that make up Shenzhen’s MedTech landscape, where medical technology development sits alongside the city’s broader technology and manufacturing base.
The Shenzhen tour added an extra day to the MedTech World Asia 2026 programme and took delegates into a different part of the Greater Bay Area.
Rather than another day of panels and presentations, the programme centred on being on site: listening to company briefings, asking questions, walking through laboratories and showrooms, watching product demonstrations and trying the technology themselves.
From Mindray’s headquarters in the morning to Lifotronic’s showroom and R&D Centre in the afternoon, the day gave delegates a closer look at Shenzhen’s MedTech sector and a chance to continue the conversations from the main event in Hong Kong.
