MedTech World Launches Ubunto Ventures to Empower MedTech and HealthTech Startups

MedTech World is launching Ubunto Ventures, a MedTech and HealthTech-focused venture capital initiative designed to support startups that are revolutionizing healthcare. This announcement was made at the Ambassador Exclusive Business Diplomacy Luncheon at InterContinental Dubai Festival City on February 25. Rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu, meaning “I am because we are”, this new initiative embodies collaboration, community, and collective well-being in its mission to drive meaningful advancements in healthcare.

Ubunto Ventures aims to fund, accelerate, and connect early-stage startups, providing them with the resources, expertise, and strategic partnerships needed to scale and transform patient care globally. With a $15 million fund, Ubunto Ventures will focus on investing in high-growth, innovative startups working in medical devices, digital health, AI-driven solutions, and other disruptive healthcare technologies.

A Strategic Approach to Innovation

Ubunto Ventures is structured to support startups at their most critical growth stages. The fund will initially allocate $7.5 million across 21 early-stage investments, each receiving $350K. The best-performing startups will receive follow-up investments ranging from $350K to $750K, ensuring sustained growth and market impact. By leveraging MedTech World’s extensive ecosystem of hospitals, universities, investors, and healthcare leaders, Ubunto Ventures provides exclusive access to funding, mentorship, and commercialization opportunities.

Dr. Dylan Attard, CEO and Co-founder of MedTech World, commented on the launch: “At MedTech World, our goal has always been to create platforms that catalyze change in healthcare. Ubunto Ventures is an extension of this vision: an initiative that doesn’t just invest in startups, but actively supports and nurtures them to drive real-world impact. By fostering innovation and collaboration, we are ensuring that life-changing healthcare solutions reach the people who need them most.”

“At Ubunto Ventures, we are looking to start deploying capital into medical device and digital health startups that are in the pre-seed and seed stage levels and with a view of topping up on investments in the second half of the life of the fund. We are looking for strategic partners to join the fund as well as investors who are not looking to just deploy and invest money but rather impact healthcare on a global scale. There is no geographic preference to the fund, and we will be looking to start deploying capital by the end of this year,” he added.
