Verge HealthTech Fund, a Singapore-headquartered venture capital fund investing exclusively and globally in early-stage healthcare technology, will take the stage on 28 August, Day 2 of MedTech World Asia, Hong Kong 2026, to deliver its flagship “State of HealthTech 2026” presentation. Previously delivered in Hong Kong, Singapore, London and Manila, the session is led by Scarlett Chen, Managing Partner, and Dr. Joseph Mocanu, Founding Partner.

What the session covers

“State of HealthTech” has become one of Verge’s signature briefings, previously delivered to audiences of healthcare and investment leaders across the fund’s markets. At MedTech World Asia, Ms. Chen and Dr. Mocanu are expected to bring their annual, data-driven view of the sector to the main stage, covering the 2026 key theme of the great divide:

  • Record capital, on the fewest deals in a decade: Global venture funding hit $469B in 2025, up 47% year on year, on the lowest deal count in ten years.
  • Concentration at every layer: By deal, by investor, by geography, and valuations have bifurcated.
  • Where capital is flowing: What that gap means for a founder raising out of the east, as digital health drew $2.7B in the US and $2.5B in Europe, against $232M across Asia in Q2 2026
  • AI is eating up healthtech: Hospitals are buying scheduling, billing and documentation far faster than anything that touches a clinical decision, with point solutions being swallowed by end-to-end agentic platforms.
  • MedTech is bifurcating: Surgical and frontier categories take the capital; diagnostics sits at a multi-year low.

Practical takeaways for delegates

Attendees walking into the session should expect insights they can act on once they’re back on the expo floor or in their next investor meeting, including:

  • Benchmarks for fundraising conversations: understanding where valuations, deal sizes, and investor appetite sit heading into the second half of 2026, useful context for founders preparing to pitch
  • A read on regional capital flows: particularly how Asia-Pacific healthtech compares to other global markets in terms of investor interest and deployment pace
  • Clarity on what’s resonating with investors right now: the categories seeing the strongest traction

Why it matters for MedTech World Asia attendees

With MedTech World Asia convening founders, investors, hospital leaders, and policymakers from across Asia-Pacific and beyond, Verge’s session offers a timely, data-backed check-in on where the healthtech capital markets stand, and where the next wave of opportunity is likely to emerge. For delegates evaluating market entry, fundraising strategy, or partnership opportunities in the region, “State of HealthTech 2026” is set to be one of the summit’s key reference points, and a natural conversation starter for the networking sessions that follow.
