Professor Dimitrios M.Rekkas

Dimitrios M. Rekkas is Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Pharmacy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece from which he has received his Bachelor in Pharmacy and PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology. He has also an MSc. degree in Total Quality Management from Sheffield Hallam University in UK. His research and teaching interests include: Pharmaceutical Technology, Industrial Pharmacy, Dosage Form Design, Experimental Design, Statistical Process Control, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Total Quality Management and Quality by Design. He was a visiting scientist at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and an invited professor at the Universities of Vienna, Parma and Ferrara. He is lecturing extensively on the subjects of his expertise in conferences and many European Universities within the Erasmus Teaching Staff Mobility Program. He has served as Director of the Laboratory and Section of Pharmaceutical Technology of the Dpt. of Pharmacy. Moreover, he is member of the International Relations and European Educational Programs Committee, the board of Strategic Planning of the NKUA and vice President of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP). He is a co-author in research papers published in peer reviewed scientific journals, patents, a book on “Total Quality Management”, a book on “Industrial Pharmacy” and supervisor of MSc and PhD students in the research areas of his expertise. He has served as the Head of the Department of Pharmacy of the NKUA and currently is the Director of the of the MSc in “Industrial Pharmacy”.
