Cleveland Clinic Partners with G42 to Advance AI in Healthcare

In a move that underscores the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern medicine, Cleveland Clinic and Abu Dhabi-based G42 have announced a landmark collaboration to advance AI-driven healthcare innovation on a global scale. The joint initiative aims to harness the combined strengths of both organisations, Cleveland Clinic’s world-class clinical expertise and G42’s leadership in AI and digital infrastructure, to transform how care is delivered, personalised, and managed across continents.

Aligning Clinical Excellence with Technological Strength

The partnership will be spearheaded by a newly formed joint task force, mandated to identify, develop, and scale AI applications that can deliver tangible improvements to patient outcomes, streamline healthcare operations, and accelerate medical research. These efforts are not confined to one geographic area — this is a truly global alliance, connecting Cleveland and G42 with the wider international healthcare community.

Cleveland Clinic President and CEO Tomislav Mihaljevic, M.D., noted, “Artificial intelligence offers a tremendous opportunity to continue to advance and fulfill our mission of caring for life, researching for health and educating those who serve.”

G42, through its healthcare division M42, already reaches 480 clinics in 26 countries. The group has led several high-impact initiatives, including the Emirati Genome Program and Malaffi, Abu Dhabi’s national health information exchange. Their capabilities in AI, digital health infrastructure, and genomic research make them a valuable counterpart to Cleveland Clinic’s medical legacy, which includes 23 hospitals and more than 16 million outpatient visits in 2024 alone.

The Promise of AI in Healthcare

This collaboration comes at a critical moment for the healthcare sector. As the demands on healthcare systems grow, so too does the need for smarter, faster, and more personalised care models. AI offers unique tools to address these challenges, from enabling earlier and more accurate diagnoses, to optimising hospital operations and tailoring treatments to a patient’s genetic profile.

Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, captured the ambition of this vision: “From deciphering the source code of life — our genome — to optimizing efficiencies across the entire patient journey, AI is paving the way for a future where care is not only more precise but also deeply personalized and preventative.”

The potential outcomes are not only transformative for clinicians, but deeply meaningful for patients, reducing waiting times, minimising uncertainty, and enabling care that is truly fit for the individual.

A Shared Vision Across Borders

Cleveland Clinic’s embrace of frontier technologies is well established. In 2023, it became the first institution to install IBM’s Quantum System One dedicated to healthcare research, signalling its long-term commitment to innovation. Partnering with G42 brings new depth to this mission, coupling it with global reach and digital scalability.

As healthcare grapples with the demands of a growing population, complex diseases, and rising costs, collaborations like this point the way toward a more agile, precise, and connected future of care.

AI in the Spotlight at MedTech World

MedTech World has long recognised the transformative potential of AI in healthcare. At our recent event in Dubai this past February, we welcomed numerous pioneering AI companies and innovators reshaping how data, diagnostics, and decisions come together in medicine. We look forward to continuing that momentum at MedTech Malta 2025 and across our upcoming global events.

Join us in Valletta from 12 to 14 November for MedTech Malta 2025 — where investors, innovators, and healthcare leaders will gather to explore new frontiers in MedTech, from AI breakthroughs to regulatory insights and global partnerships. Healthcare is evolving — make sure you’re part of the journey.
