Obesity can no longer be addressed through medication alone. The future will depend on the convergence of GLP-1 therapies, wearables, continuous health monitoring, AI-driven support, personalized prevention, stronger patient agency, and coordinated public policy. The keynote would also explore how China is increasingly treating obesity as a national priority, with government leadership and ecosystem-wide action, similar to the way major challenges such as sustainability and climate change are approached. The central message is simple: sustainable obesity management will require more than one drug or one device. It will require an integrated ecosystem combining medicine, technology, behaviour, and policy.
