Respiree raises $11.6M to expand smarter patient monitoring tools

Hospitals today are flooded with data. From bedside monitors to EHRs and wearables, every beep and alert competes for a clinician’s attention. But when everything signals urgency, the signal itself becomes noise. Alarm fatigue, a phenomenon where medical staff become desensitized to the constant barrage of alerts, has become a serious challenge in modern healthcare. Add to that ongoing workforce shortages, and the system risks buckling under its own weight.

“What we need is better use of data, not just more data,” said Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Founder and CEO of Respiree.

That perspective has become the backbone of Respiree, a health tech company developing AI-powered solutions to identify patient deterioration earlier while cutting down on unnecessary alerts. And now, with a fresh injection of capital, the company is looking to scale its vision further.

Backed by $11.6 million and a vision to scale

Respiree has just closed an $11.6 million Series A round led by We Venture Capital and ClavystBio. Additional participation came from Adaptive Capital Partners, the Mayo Foundation for Medical Research, and existing investors including Greenwillow Capital Management, Seeds Capital, and she1K.

The funding will support the company’s expansion in the U.S., including headquarters at the Texas Medical Center (TMC) Innovation in Houston, as well as growing its commercial team.

“Respiree stands out in the market by providing a patient monitoring AI/ML + hardware solution with incredible performance,” said Louise Warme, Head of We Venture Capital, in a statement. “Their scientifically validated data and key partnerships position Respiree for a promising scale-up journey driven by an extremely execution-focused team.”

A smarter approach to monitoring

At the heart of Respiree’s platform is a flagship AI model developed during its participation in the Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate program. In trials, this model dramatically reduced false alarms while maintaining high sensitivity for patient deterioration. According to pre-print findings published in The Lancet, it outperformed EPIC’s widely used deterioration index, boasting a six-fold improvement in positive predictive value (54.9% vs. 8%).

The company is currently pursuing FDA clearance for this model, which will be integrated into its 1Bio™ platform. Already, the platform incorporates data from EHRs, third-party devices, mobile questionnaires, and Respiree’s own FDA-cleared, U.S.-patented sensors.

“Our AI solutions enable timely interventions, reduce alarm fatigue, and support care quality,” Dr. Singh said. “We’re now focused on scaling these tools to enhance the entire patient journey—from smarter triage to follow-up.”

From Singapore to the world

Founded in Singapore, Respiree has taken a global view from the outset. Its technology is already available in the U.S., Australia, and across the Asia-Pacific region. Recent partnerships—like a pilot program with Roche Diagnostics across APAC—point to a growing footprint.

“ClavystBio’s investment in Respiree is central to our strategy of helping companies scale globally from and through Singapore,” said Anselm Tan, Digital Health & MedTech Lead at ClavystBio. “Their innovative AI-powered monitoring platform is set to enhance patient care and empower clinical teams with actionable insights.”

The company plans to deepen partnerships with existing channel partners and enter new markets, including the Gulf Cooperation Council and Thailand.

“Respiree has achieved much since Greenwillow Capital Management first invested in February 2022,” noted Dr. Wong Mun Yew, Managing Partner of Oriza Greenwillow Technology Fund. “We are incredibly encouraged by the commercialization of Respiree’s products and services in tier-one markets and look forward to being part of Respiree’s growth as it continues to transform patient care on a global scale.”

AI that actually helps clinicians

Respiree’s AI modules are designed to be device-agnostic and EHR-compatible, minimizing integration headaches. The system not only monitors patients but also automates the delivery of care pathways, essentially giving nurses and care teams a streamlined way to stay on top of requirements without getting buried in alerts.

With wearable sensors capable of tracking a wide range of cardio-respiratory metrics, Respiree is building a continuous data loop that prioritizes insight over information overload.

If the early numbers and growing list of international partnerships are any indication, Respiree is pushing AI in a direction that doesn’t just generate more data but helps healthcare professionals actually make sense of it.
