6 Days to Go Until MedTech Houston Rodeo: Check Out the Full Agenda Here 

MedTech World will be in Houston for MedTech Houston Rodeo on 13 March at Levit Green – Conference Center, Floor 1, 6420 Levit Green Boulevard, Houston. With only six days to go, the excitement is building as industry leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs prepare to come together for a full day of insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and inspiring presentations. 

The day will kick off with registration from 8:30 to 9:00 AM, followed by opening remarks from Giovanni Lauricella, CEO at Lifeblood, at 9:15 AM. The first session, ‘State of the MedTech Union,’ will run from 9:30 to 10:15 AM. Led by Jonathan Norris, Manager Healthcare Venture Relationships at HSBC’s Innovation Banking Division, Martin Gomez, Partner at Goodwin Procter LLP; and Giovanni Lauricella, the session will provide an overview of the current state of MedTech. 

Following a short break, the agenda continues with ‘Houston’s Newest Success Story: The Galen Data Acquisition’ from 10:30 to 11:00 AM, featuring insights from Alex Condon, COO at Galen Data and Abbas Dhilawala, CTO at Galen Data. Attendees will then explore international MedTech trials in Australia during ‘Down Undah: A First-In Human Trial Opportunity’ at 11:00 AM, with Joseph Panetta, Ascend Clinical; Lian Cunningham, Vice President Clinical Affairs at Endogenex; and Malek Nasr, Co-Founder of HighLife. 

At 11:30 AM, ‘It Takes a Village to Raise a Startup: Building the Right MedTech Support System’ will delve into creating a robust ecosystem for MedTech startups, with speakers Tushar Sharma, CEO & Co-founder at Vivifi Medical; Joseph Synder, Principal at Lifeblood Capital; Nathan G. Piland, Founder & CEO of Nunex; Martin Gomez, Partner at Goodwin Procter LLP; Maria Gomez, Head of Business at VitaGroup; Cristiano Fontana, Head of Advisory at Lifeblood; and Joseph Panetta, Ascend Clinical. 

After a networking lunch, the afternoon kicks off with ‘The EnMed Program: Breeding Innovation from Texas’ at 12:30 PM, led by Lance Black, Sr. Associate Dean of Innovation and Strategic Projects at ENMED A&M. The insights continue with ‘This Ain’t My First Rodeo: Houston’s Serial MedTech Entrepreneur’ at 12:45 PM, featuring Giovanni Lauricella and Albert Huang, Surgeon and serial entrepreneur at Contrario. 

Maria Gomez and Matt Newman, Owner/Partner/President of Sales, will present ‘End-To-End In-House Solutions for MedTech Startups: The VitaTek Value Proposition’ at 1:15 PM. This is followed by a discussion on advanced medical technologies in ‘It Ain’t Easy, But It’s Worth It: Total Artificial Hearts & Brain Computer Interfaces’ at 1:30 PM with Malek Nasr; Kurt Haggstrom, Chief Commercial Officer at Synchron; and Ina Laura Perkins, CEO at Scandinavian Real Heart. 

The agenda continues with ‘Making Hay: How MedTech Companies Get Bought’ at 2:15 PM, featuring Chris Mathia, Founder at 2409 Advisors; Thomas Busby, Director, Investment Banking at Outcome Capital; David Kereiakes, Managing Partner at Windham Capital Partners; and Dave McDonough, President at NTI-Northgate Technologies. ‘Building Innovation Bridges Between Universities and MedTech Investors & Entrepreneurs’ at 2:45 PM will focus on academia and industry collaboration, led by Savannah Esteve Morreale, Program Director, Surgery Innovation at MD Anderson Cancer Center. 

Attendees will also gain insights into Texas’ wine industry with ‘Why Texas Wine Deserves More Recognition: Winemaker’s Insights & Threshold Vineyards’ at 3:15 PM, presented by Josh Jeter, Founder at Threshold Vineyards and Winery. At 3:30 PM, ‘Calf Roping Capital: The Tactics of MedTech Fundraising & Investing’ will cover fundraising strategies with Tyler Zanon, CEO at EndoShunt; Or Zigelboim, CEO at Pylon Medical; Eric Goslau, President and CEO at Transverse Medical; Chris Japp, Managing Partner at Tramway Ventures; Mark Winters, Managing Director at Brite Oak LLC; and Shai Policker, Managing Partner at Edge. 

The ‘Texas CEO Rodeo: Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio’ at 4:30 PM will showcase discussions with Texas MedTech CEOs, including Giovanni Lauricella; Jennifer Newell, Founder & CEO at Betty’s Co.; Sandra Saldana, CEO & Co-Founder at Alva Health; Bret Boudousquie, Founder at Stratus Medical, and Ryan DeBoer, CEO at The Shape Sensing Company. Closing remarks from Maggie Judge, Head of Growth at Lifeblood, and Dr. Dylan Attard, Co-Founder and CEO at MedTech World, will wrap up the event from 5:15 to 5:30 PM. 

The evening will conclude with live music, food, and beverages from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, followed by a casual networking after-party at J Bar M BBQ from 7:00 to 10:00 PM.
