Free medical cannabis in France 2021 for experiment

French Government to distribute free medical cannabis in 2021 as part of an experiment

The French Government announced that in 2021, a small medical cannabis experiment will be carried out, offering the opportunity for 3,000 patients to take part. The companies who will be participating are expected to supply the medical cannabis for free, and the products have to be up to pharmaceutical standards. The experiment is set to begin in March of next year.
The decree in which this was announced assigned the project to the Ministry of Health and Solidarity, with the Minister and the general director of the French Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products deciding

  • The technical aspects and medicinal forms of the cannabis products.
  • The conditions for which they can be prescribes.
  • The procedures that will involve getting them into the country, storage, distribution and control.

The importation of the products is expected to be popular in France because the cultivation of high-level THC cannabis is still illegal in France, although naturally this is already a great step forward, committing the country to accessing medical marijuana.
