Who will take the crown? Announcing the ten startups pitching at MedTech Malta 2025

It’s that time of the year again as the MedTech World Startup Pitch Competition returns to the stunning Mediterranean Conference Center, where innovation takes the stage and the next breakthrough in healthcare could be just one pitch away. On Day 2 of MedTech Malta 2025, the La Valette Stage will host ten ambitious startups from across the world, each ready to convince judges and investors that their technology deserves the top spot. The competition is proudly sponsored by Malta Enterprise, Blue Goat Cyber, Prolucid Technologies, and MedTech Impact Partners, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing global health innovation and empowering the next generation of MedTech startups.  

Last year’s winner, Berlin Heals Holding, represented by CEO John Brumfield, set a high benchmark with its groundbreaking C-MIC platform designed to reverse heart failure.

This year’s lineup promises to be just as exciting: 

1. Sylke (USA) 

Sylke is redefining surgical wound care with its SYLKE® Adhesive Wound Closure system, created from silk-fibroin biomaterials. Developed by reconstructive surgeons, the system streamlines incision management, enhances healing, and improves cosmetic results. By merging biocompatible materials with practical clinical design, Sylke aims to bring simplicity, safety, and efficiency to post-surgical care. 

At the helm is Raman Tsimafeyeu, CEO, leading efforts to merge virtual reality and artificial intelligence to advance neurological rehabilitation through immersive therapy experiences. 

3. Weave Bio Therapeutics (USA) 

Founded by Vikas Agarwal, Weave Bio Therapeutics is pushing the boundaries of regenerative medicine with its novel tissue engineering solutions designed to accelerate healing and recovery. 

4. ChamberTech (UK) 

Richard Chambers, Founder and CEO, ChamberTech, represents this UK-based MedTech startup, developing the first hybrid endocardial and epicardial pulsed field ablation (PFA) system for treating atrial fibrillation. Its catheter platform combines advanced electrode design, targeted energy delivery, and dual-access ablation to create more durable lesions while improving patient safety 

5. NeoPredics (Switzerland) 

Under Thorsten Waloschek, CEO, NeoPredics is advancing AI-powered diagnostic tools to detect metabolic and genetic disorders early, particularly in neonatal and pediatric care. 

6. Galenband (Ireland)  

Eddie McDaid, Co-Founder and CEO, presents an innovative wearable solution for continuous cardiovascular monitoring, enabling proactive prevention of heart conditions. 

7. Cardiovascular Engineering (Romania) 

Founded by Alex Plesoianu, Cardiovascular Engineering is working to revolutionize heart failure treatment through minimally invasive, fully implantable, and universally adaptable artificial heart technologies designed to make advanced cardiac care safer, more natural, and accessible to all. 

8. NueroRevive SRL (Romania) 

Adrian Fechete, Founder, leads this neurotechnology startup developing neurostimulation devices that enhance recovery for patients with neurological impairments. 

9. F.MED (Japan)  

Co-founded and led by Keita Shimomura, F.MED develops advanced robotics tailored for microsurgical procedures. The company’s flagship solution includes a manipulator system that filters hand tremors and enables precise handling of ultra-fine vessels, targeting highly specialised surgeries such as vascular reconstructions and transplant micro-anastomoses 

10. Refined Diagnostics (Germany)  

Max Brinkmann, CEO & Co-Founder, represents the biophotonics company based in Münster that develops advanced laser and microscopy systems designed for rapid diagnostics. Their flagship platforms, the PICUS DUO and PICUS Q laser systems, enable label-free imaging of tissue samples in minutes, potentially reducing the need for repeat surgeries and improving patient outcomes.  

With such a diverse and driven lineup, anticipation is high to see which of these innovators will impress the judges and take home the coveted prize. 

What’s at stake for the winner? 

The stakes couldn’t be higher for this year’s MedTech Malta 2025 Startup Pitch Competition. Beyond the prestige and exposure that come with winning, the top startup will walk away with a Startup Package for Malta 2026, opening doors to the island’s fast-growing innovation ecosystem and investment opportunities.
