Whether you’re a die-hard rodeo fan or a curious newcomer, this year’s lineup promises unforgettable moments and edge-of-your-seat excitement. Here’s your guide to the most exciting events you can’t afford to miss:
Tie-Down Roping
Witness the incredible speed and precision of cowboys as they chase down calves, lasso them, and tie them up in a matter of seconds. This event is a true showcase of skill, teamwork, and lightning-fast reflexes.
Bareback Riding
Hold on tight! Bareback riding is one of the most physically demanding events, with riders clinging to bucking horses using nothing but a rigging. It’s a test of strength and endurance that never fails to leave the crowd in awe.
Team Roping
The only team event in professional rodeo, team roping pairs two riders—one to rope the steer’s head and the other to rope its legs. It’s all about timing and cooperation, and the best duos make it look effortless.
Saddle Bronc
Saddle bronc riding is a blend of power and grace. Cowboys ride wild horses with just a saddle and rein, trying to stay on for a full 8 seconds while showcasing fluid, controlled movements.
Steer Wrestling
Get ready for a jaw-dropping display of strength and agility. In steer wrestling, also known as “bulldogging,” competitors leap from their horses to wrestle steers to the ground. It’s as wild as it sounds!
Barrel Racing
This event is all about speed and precision. Female riders and their horses race around three barrels in a cloverleaf pattern, with the fastest time taking the win. The tight turns and fast sprints make barrel racing a crowd favorite.
Breakaway Roping
A newer addition to the rodeo lineup, breakaway roping is a thrilling event where the rider ropes a calf as quickly as possible. It’s fast, fun, and showcases the incredible skill of female competitors.
Bull Riding
Nothing beats the raw adrenaline of bull riding. Cowboys climb onto a 1,500-pound bull and attempt to ride it for 8 seconds. The challenge is immense, and the energy in the arena is electric!
