World Health Day 2025: Celebrating Startups Pioneering a Healthier Tomorrow
This World Health Day, we at MedTech World are taking a moment to shine a spotlight on startups from our global network of over 20,000 professionals and companies that are going the extra mile in advancing health. These are not just tech innovators, they are mission-driven disruptors who are rewriting what’s possible in care, access, diagnostics, and patient empowerment. Today, we celebrate their work for their cutting-edge technologies but more than that for the real, lasting impact they’re bringing to people’s lives.
Rhaeos
Rhaeos is a clinical-stage medical device company addressing a critical gap in treating hydrocephalus. Their wearable patch, FlowSense, is a non-invasive, wireless tool that monitors subdermal fluid flow, changing the way clinicians assess cerebrospinal fluid in patients with implanted shunts. Until now, there was no bedside, wireless technology to detect shunt failures, an issue that often leads to repeated emergency interventions and surgeries. Rhaeos is changing that narrative with a solution that could prevent avoidable complications and bring peace of mind to patients and clinicians alike.
OxiWear
This startup is tackling life-threatening risks for individuals living with hypoxia. Their discreet, ear-wearable device continuously monitors oxygen levels and provides emergency alerts in real-time. Designed to reduce patient vulnerability to silent hypoxic events, OxiWear brings a new level of safety to at-risk populations, blending accessibility with clinical-grade monitoring. It’s a lot more than just a gadget: a life-saving tool designed for everyday wear.
AiGIA
Empowering individuals is at the heart of AiGIA, a platform that transforms how people interact with their health data. By enabling users to access and share their medical records securely and proactively, AiGIA is fostering a new paradigm of preventive care. With a strong focus on data ownership and actionable health insights, the platform encourages people to take charge of their health outcomes, making meaningful engagement possible through transparency and accessibility.
Flo Health
On a mission to support women’s health through all life stages, Flo Health is the most downloaded women’s health app in the world, with over 400 million downloads. Used by 1 in 4 women aged 18-44 in the US, Flo goes beyond period tracking. It delivers medically backed, personalized insights on everything from fertility to menopause, while also breaking taboos and closing health literacy gaps. Notably, Flo offers free Premium access to women in 66 countries and partners with organizations like UNFPA to reach underserved populations. Its Anonymous Mode, a privacy-first feature, was even named one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023. At every turn, Flo is making women’s health more informed, inclusive, and accessible.
Mindstep
Another standout in the digital health space, especially when it comes to brain health is Mindstep. Designed by a team of NHS neurologists, psychiatrists, and psychologists, this app provides clinically validated assessments for conditions ranging from anxiety and migraines to concussion and depression. Its holistic, data-driven approach brings fast, affordable mental health support to users without the pills, long waits, or financial strain of traditional care.
ORTHOSON
In tackling chronic pain and disc degeneration, ORTHOSON is offering a micro-invasive alternative that restores the spine’s natural biomechanics. Their Bio-Structural Gel procedure can be completed in under 30 minutes and delivers immediate pain relief without the use of opioids or implants. With FDA Breakthrough Device designation, Orthoson’s tech doesn’t just mask pain, it targets and reverses the cause, allowing earlier intervention that doesn’t accelerate degeneration.
HealthOrbit AI
HealthOrbit AI is working behind the scenes to improve outcomes by addressing a major pain point in healthcare: administrative overload. Their AI-powered platform automates complex billing and admin tasks, freeing up clinicians to focus on patients. By improving billing accuracy and reducing operational inefficiencies, HealthOrbitAI supports better revenue recovery for hospitals and ensures doctors can dedicate more time to what matters most, caring for patients.
EVAnatomy
Rounding out the group is EVAnatomy, which is transforming neurosurgery with its real-time Surgical Navigation System. Think of it as a GPS for brain surgery, predicting how tissues will shift during operations without requiring repeat imaging. This system not only reduces radiation exposure but also improves outcomes, shortens procedures, and lowers costs. Developed with deep integration of imaging and mechano-biological modeling, EVAnatomy represents a leap forward in precision care.
From smart patches to AI-driven billing platforms, digital brain health to women’s health empowerment, each of these startups is making health more human, more proactive, and more accessible. On World Health Day 2025, we recognize their efforts not just as technical achievements, but as powerful acts of service driven by compassion, courage, and a relentless belief in better.
