[WATCH] SiGMA leverages Malta’s digital hub with Med-Tech World event
The Med-Tech World expo will follow the success of 2020’s virtual event, running from 18th-19th November
SiGMA Group has announced the dates for an event dedicated to health tech. The Med-Tech World conference, which follows a successful digital event in 2020, will run from 18th-19th November, 2021, and will be held at the Hilton Malta Convention Centre.
The second edition of Med-Tech World highlights innovations and developments in digital health across the globe. The main expo will then fall across the 18th and 19th, and will also play host to the Med-Tech Awards night.
With investments reaching astronomical figures, it is now estimated that the global digital health market will increase to around $640 billion by 2026. The potential for exponential growth, coupled with Malta’s position as a digital hub for the changing face of technology, makes this event the ideal location to address the opportunities and challenges driving this million-dollar forum.
SiGMA Group founder, Eman Pulis, said, ” SiGMA Group has years of valuable experience in organising successful shows in emerging tech, we hope to leverage this expertise and industry experience to take our brand to its logical next step. Malta is fast becoming a global digital hub, especially when it comes to medical technology, making it the perfect location for our first physical event dedicated to digital health.”

The conference will be curated by a team of doctors and medical experts to create a series of content-rich conferences. Dr Dylan Attard, a surgical trainee within Malta’s largest acute hospital with a Masters in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship and Dr Ryan Grech, a radiology registrar within the Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board and also a representative within the NHS GG&C Diagnostics Directorate Artificial Intelligence Imaging Group will be spearheading this initiative. They are both founders of Digital Health Malta and they are passionate about health tech and the potential it has to change healthcare.
“I believe that digital is the present and the future of healthcare. Being a practising clinician puts me in a unique position to appreciate the viewpoints of all key stakeholders involved in the decision-making and this will be at the heart of the agenda we will be curating. I see Malta as the optimal location for the sharing of ideas, not only because of the excellent healthcare services that we enjoy, however, it boasts the perfect geolocation for the meeting of intellectual minds,” said Dr Ryan Grech.
“Having co-founded my telemedicine start-up whilst specialising in surgery I understand the needs that start-ups have to function. One of my main aims is to ensure that Med-Tech is truly accessible to all. From the smallest start-up to large multinational conglomerates, from the PhD scholar to the healthcare practitioners in the frontlines. I believe in giving everyone the voice they need be it to sell their product or leave an impact on the way they are developed for patients,” said Dr Dylan Attard.
Leading experts will address the opportunities and challenges the industry faces – debating hot-button issues revolutionising the face of medicine and patient care. From surgical robotics to bioprinting and augmented reality, as well as regulatory issues such as patents and clinical trials, Med-Tech World brings medicine into the future through an offering of insightful, data-driven content created exclusively with the medical community in mind.
The Med Tech expo floor brings a carefully curated display of the products and solutions leading the market. This high energy exposition offers a direct line to some of the top innovators in the industry– making it an ideal place for networking and deal-making opportunities.
Over the last few years, the Maltese government has worked to position the country as a digital hub, integrating the digital sphere into government, business, and education. In addition to being rated as offering some of the best healthcare in the world, and having a high level of medical expertise, its convenient geo-location mid-Med makes it well placed internationally as a place for regulators, corporations, and tech innovators to connect, network, and do business with relevant stakeholders.
