Medtronic Partners with Methinks AI to Enhance Stroke Care
Medtronic, a global leader in healthcare technology, has announced a strategic partnership with Methinks AI, a pioneering provider of AI-driven radiological triage and notification systems. The collaboration aims to strengthen stroke treatment pathways across Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Türkiye, and the Middle East, supporting Medtronic’s Neurovascular business in these key markets. The financial terms of the agreement are not yet disclosed.
Bridging the Gap in Stroke Care
The partnership underscores the increasing value of integrated digital solutions in enhancing stroke workflows and improving patient outcomes. Medtronic’s commitment to innovation in acute ischemic stroke treatment, exemplified by its advanced stent retrievers and aspiration systems, will now be complemented by Methinks AI’s powerful triage support tools.
Methinks AI’s technology leverages artificial intelligence to assist in the early assessment of stroke, saving crucial time in patient management. Its software is capable of detecting over 80% of large vessel occlusions using only non-contrast CT imaging, making it especially valuable in settings with limited access to advanced imaging technologies.
Scalable Technology with Global Reach
Validated in leading hospitals across Europe and the United States, Methinks AI is recognized for supporting faster clinical decision-making. The company’s recent partnership with Microsoft enhances the scalability and accessibility of its technology, expanding its potential impact on global stroke care through seamless integration with Microsoft Teams.
Through this collaboration, Methinks AI will be integrated into Medtronic’s stroke treatment ecosystem. This integration is expected to streamline communication and connectivity between regional hospitals and specialized stroke centers, improving triage efficiency and care coordination. By enabling stroke assessment directly from non-contrast CT scans, healthcare professionals will be empowered with timely tools to initiate appropriate treatment without delay.
“We are very excited to partner with Medtronic, a company that shares our dedication to expanding access to stroke treatments for those who need them most. Through this collaboration, we aim to bring our AI-powered solutions to more hospitals, enabling faster triage and more efficient care coordination,” said Pau Rodríguez, CEO of Methinks.
Pau attended and presented at the Startup Pitch Competition during MedTech Malta 2023, showcasing Methinks AI’s innovative approach to stroke care.
Supporting Better Patient Pathways
The integration of AI-driven stroke detection with Medtronic’s Neurovascular portfolio is expected to accelerate therapy adoption and enhance the efficiency of stroke care delivery in underserved regions.
“At Medtronic, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that extend beyond traditional product offerings. This partnership reinforces our commitment to support healthcare professionals with advanced stroke care tools, ensuring faster and more effective treatment for patients across the region and transforming stroke care by combining breakthrough AI assessment with world-class medical device solutions,” said Maria Zvereva, Neurovascular Strategic Marketing Leader in the CEMA region at Medtronic, in a statement.
