Tenon Medical has set a bold course for its future with the integration of SiVantage’s technologies, a move that redefines its product portfolio and growth potential in sacro-pelvic fusion. The acquisition not only adds proven technologies like SImmetry and SImmetry+ but also brings key leaders into Tenon’s fold, promising a new phase of innovation, commercial expansion, and physician-focused development.

Rethinking innovation for the next chapter

Steve Foster, CEO of Tenon Medical, underscored how transformative the acquisition is for the company’s innovation strategy.

“Tenon Medical is a completely different company on day one of this transaction and the area of innovation roadmap you ask about is front and center,” Foster said.

“The New Tenon will be a physician needs focused organization with specific focus on the variable sacro-pelvic anatomy. The requirements for new products will be defined by physician advisors and will be targeted at solving clear clinical and biomechanical challenges. The complexities of the sacro-pelvic anatomy require multiple anatomical approaches, implant formats and creative instrumentation. In the next 12 – 24 months, Tenon Medical will launch new technologies in the inferior-posterior, lateral and posterior approach to the pelvic anatomy. Our customers will have options to fit their needs – be they primary SI focused, revision SI focused, or as part of a complex / multi-level spinal procedure. And all of this work will be guided by our commitment to biomechanical and clinical data and an unrelenting focus on authentic arthrodesis principles.”

Foster also emphasized how SImmetry and SImmetry+ will strengthen Tenon’s position in the SI joint fusion space:

“The SImmetry technology is being significantly redesigned and will be a state-of-the-art lateral option for physicians who prefer this approach to the anatomy. The alpha clinical review of SImmetry Plus will commence in Q4, 2025 and we are confident it will bring meaningful clinical and procedure advantages when compared with other lateral technologies.”

As integration unfolds, Foster pointed to regulatory, quality, operations, and distribution as the immediate priorities. “The expansion of our commercial organization began immediately and will be led by Nate Grawey,” he said, noting that intensive training and the addition of distribution partners are already underway.

Looking ahead, he described the transaction as “transformative for Tenon Medical in the areas of Products, Pipeline and People,” adding: “I’m thrilled to bring Wyatt and Nate into the team as I’ve had the privilege of knowing them for many years and believe deeply in what they can do. The creativity and innovation mindset they bring is significant. But more importantly, they will add to a culture of doing things the right way that I believe will be very attractive to prospective physician customers. It’s a challenge to express how excited I am about the coming months.”

Engineering for authentic fusion

For Wyatt Geist, Chief Innovations Officer, Tenon Medical, the acquisition represents a natural extension of the engineering philosophies that guided SiVantage.

“Tenon was focused on basic fusion principles and addressing the biomechanical stability required to complete the procedure. That combined with the capital and research to prove the results made this the perfect home for the products and team we were cultivating,” Geist explained.

He added that Tenon’s culture of data-driven development gives him confidence in advancing SImmetry+:

“They are truly focused on data, in other words ‘they let the truth speak.’ Whenever you are working on new technologies the market will only respond to things that are easy, reproducible but most importantly backed by proven results.”

Geist also shared his perspective on what “authentic fusion” means in this new chapter.

“I will flip the script and ask you what other joints in the body are simply skewered with a fixation device. The answer is none. This is the only joint that does not either create an artificial joint or decorticates the joint, adds bone graft and allows for an Authentic fusion. Many of the patients do well regardless of this less effective strategy, but it can be greatly improved for the primary market and necessarily improved for the long constructs that have increased biomechanical stress.”

A commercial strategy built on adaptability

On the commercial side, Chief Commercial Officer Nate Grawey outlined Tenon’s approach to bringing SImmetry+ and the broader portfolio to market.

“We’re leveraging a hybrid commercialization strategy that balances direct sales in strategic markets with highly engaged distributor networks in others,” Grawey said. “Our new combined portfolio expands to offer physicians solutions not only in an ASC but also for hospital based multi-level constructs that incorporate the sacro-pelvic anatomy. Our partnerships are rooted in shared clinical values, and we’ve made a concerted effort to identify groups that believe in products rooted in time tested biomechanical standards and long-term fusion outcomes.”

Education will be central to adoption. “Surgeon education will be multi-modal: peer-to-peer labs, targeted case observations, and digital content grounded in the biomechanics of sacropelvic fixation and equally as important, fusion. We’re not pushing a ‘one-size-fits-all’ narrative. With both SImmetry and SImmetry+, Catamaran, and yet to be announced products in the pipeline, our goal is to empower surgeons to match the implant and trajectory to the unique anatomy and pathology of each patient — something that hasn’t always been prioritized in this space.”

For Grawey, SImmetry+ under Tenon’s brand represents more than a product. “SImmetry+ represents more than just an implant — it’s a shift toward procedural sophistication and personalized care in the SI space. Under Tenon’s brand, we’re positioning it as the go-to option for surgeons who demand intraoperative adaptability and are unwilling to compromise on long-term fusion integrity. Our messaging and sales strategy are both built around that ethos.”

Tenon’s integration of SiVantage marks a new era where authentic fusion, physician-guided design, and commercial agility converge. With SImmetry+ on the horizon and a broader sacro-pelvic portfolio in motion, the company is signaling clear intent to redefine standards in the SI fusion segment.
