What’s in Store for Day 1 at MedTech World Dubai 2025?
After a relaxing day exploring Dubai’s rich culture and connecting with fellow attendees at the networking reception on Day 0, MedTech World Dubai 2025 officially kicks off with a full day of insightful discussions, keynotes, and opportunities to engage with industry leaders.
The day begins with registration and morning networking at 8:30 AM, giving attendees time to grab a coffee and settle in before the main program begins. At 9:15 AM, Dr. Dylan Attard, Co-Founder and CEO at MedTech World, will officially open the conference with welcoming remarks, setting the stage for an exciting day ahead.
This is followed by keynote speeches from Dr. Younis Mohamed Kazim, Advisor and Acting CEO of the Health Regulation Sector at Dubai Health Authority, and Dr. Malcolm Paul Agius Galea, Parliamentary Secretary at Malta’s Ministry for Health. These addresses will provide valuable insights into healthcare regulations and policy advancements in both the UAE and Malta.
Exploring Global and Regional MedTech Perspectives
The first panel of the day, “Beyond Borders: Global vs GCC MedTech Perspectives”, will feature industry leaders discussing the differences and opportunities in MedTech markets worldwide. Speakers include Mariya Nyakern (Managing Partner, Nyakern Nexus Investments), Dr. Laurent Pacheco (Chairman, London Venture Capital Network), JJ Amell (Founder & Managing Attorney, Amell Law Firm, PLLC), Steve Moore (Founder & CEO, Welcome Health Ventures), and Sahir Ali (General Partner, Modi Ventures), with Malek Nasr (Co-Founder, HighLife) being the moderator.
This is followed by a keynote from Dr. Marwan Alzarouni, CEO, AI at Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), who will share his expertise on AI’s growing role in healthcare and beyond.
The Future of Healthcare Connectivity and Longevity
At 10:30 AM, the panel “A Connected Future: Linking EHR, HIE, Wearables, and IoT for Total Patient Care” will explore how technology is revolutionizing patient care. Panelists include Hussein Albishi (President, Saudi Health Information Management Association), Dr. Khalid Kheder (Advisor to H.E. Vice Minister for Planning and Development, Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia and the Board Chairman of the Quality in Health Care Association), Christian Espinosa (Founder & CEO, Blue Goat Cyber), Shavini Fernando (Founder & CEO, OxiWear Inc), and Andrew Schroen (Manager, Digital Health at Mediclinic).
Next, at 11:02 AM, the discussion shifts to “Unlocking Longevity: A Holistic Approach to Genomics, Lifestyle, Wellness, and Precision Health.” Moderated by Rachel McArthur (MENA Healthcare Journalist, Managing Editor, Digital Ink Media), the panel includes Alex Diaconu (CEO & Co-Founder, AiGIA Health), Varun Kapur (CEO, Vyana), Dr. Hinda Daggag (Director, PwC Health Industries Consulting), and HE Prof. Dr. Zahid Haque (Secretary-General, World Sports Alliance).
Before lunch, Hy2Care CEO Leo Smit will showcase the company’s latest innovations in regenerative healing.
Afternoon Sessions: AI, Investment, and Women in Healthcare
Following a lunch break at 11:40 AM, the conference resumes with “Revolutionizing Healthcare with AI: Smarter Data Processing, Diagnostics, and Decision Making” at 12:27 PM. After a short coffee break at 2:55 PM, the much-anticipated MedTech Startup Pitch Competition begins at 3:15 PM. From hundreds of entries, eight startups will pitch their innovations to a panel of judges, hoping to secure funding and partnerships.
Wrapping Up the Day
The conference concludes with competition results and closing remarks from Dr. Dylan Attard at 4:25 PM. In the evening, an exclusive networking reception and gala dinner and MedTech World Awards Ceremony (by invitation and platinum ticket holders only) will take place at the Al Baraha Ballroom, offering attendees a chance to unwind and celebrate the day’s discussions and achievements.
