Come for the summit. Stay for the city.

Hong Kong is one of the world’s most dynamic destinations, where global business, innovation, culture, and hospitality converge. As the host city for MedTech World Asia 2026 from 26 to 28 August, it provides delegates an ideal setting to connect with investors, partners, healthcare leaders, and innovators from across the Asia-Pacific region.

Whether you are attending to raise capital, explore new markets, discover emerging technologies, or expand your network, a little planning will help you make the most of your time in Hong Kong.

Getting to Hong Kong conference venue

Fly into Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), one of the world’s busiest and most connected hubs. From the airport to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), you have several straightforward options:

  • Airport Express — the fastest and most convenient route; roughly 24 minutes to Hong Kong Station, then a short taxi or MTR ride to HKCEC. Total journey: approximately 30–40 minutes.
  • Taxi — metered and available directly from the airport arrivals hall. Expect the ride to take around 40–50 minutes depending on traffic, costing approximately HK$300–380.
  • Bus (A11 / A12) — budget-friendly option with multiple stops across Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Journey time varies but expect 60–75 minutes.

Pro tip: Get an Octopus Card on arrival.

It works across the MTR, buses, trams, ferries, and even many convenience stores and cafés. It’s the fastest and simplest way to navigate the city without fumbling for change. Before leaving Hong Kong, you can return the card at designated service counters and receive a refund of the remaining balance, although an administrative fee usually applies if the card is returned within 90 days of purchase.

Travel essentials

  • Visa Requirements: Many nationalities can enter Hong Kong visa-free. Check entry requirements before travelling.
  • Currency: Hong Kong Dollar (HKD). Credit cards are commonly accepted, while cash remains useful for smaller purchases.
  • Weather: August is typically hot and humid, with temperatures ranging between 28°C and 33°C. As it falls within typhoon season, monitoring local weather forecasts is recommended.
  • Electricity: Type G plugs (UK-style), 220V/50Hz.
  • Connectivity: Prepaid SIM cards and eSIM options are widely available.

Where to stay

The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong serves as the official conference hotel and is located directly adjacent to HKCEC, making it the most convenient option for delegates.

Special rates are available for MedTech World Asia attendees, though availability is limited and early booking is recommended.

Getting around Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s transport network is regarded as one of the most efficient in the world.

  • MTR: The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) provides fast, reliable connections throughout the city and is the preferred transport option for most visitors.
  • Taxis: Taxis are readily available and relatively affordable, particularly for short journeys.
  • Buses and Trams: An extensive bus network and Hong Kong’s iconic double-decker trams offer convenient alternatives for exploring the city.
  • Star Ferry: A journey on the historic Star Ferry remains one of Hong Kong’s most memorable experiences, providing spectacular views of Victoria Harbour at minimal cost.

What’s on the agenda

MedTech World Asia 2026 begins on 26 August with a guided Cultural Tour from 09:00 to 13:00, a perfect way to settle in before the business begins. The evening opens with a Reception (17:00–20:00) followed by the headline MedTech World Awards Ceremony (19:30–23:00), celebrating the innovators and organisations driving the next generation of medical technology.

The main conference takes place on 27–28 August from 09:00 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), bringing together founders, investors, manufacturers, healthcare providers, and industry leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges in MedTech across Asia.

Topics throughout the summit will include:

  • Market entry and expansion across Asia-Pacific
  • Investment and fundraising trends
  • Regulatory and reimbursement pathways
  • AI, digital health, and precision medicine
  • Manufacturing and supply chain strategies
  • Women’s health and emerging care models
  • The Greater Bay Area opportunity
  • Cross-border partnerships and innovation

Day 1 closes with a VIP Networking Reception (19:30–23:00) while the summit wraps up with a Closing Reception from 18:00–20:00 on Day 2.

A highlight of the programme is the MedTech World Startup Pitch Competition on Day 2, where selected startups will present their solutions to a panel of investors and industry experts.

Networking remains a key focus throughout the event, with dedicated receptions, an expo floor, a startup village, and opportunities for delegates to build meaningful business relationships.

Bonus Day: Shenzhen & Greater Bay Area Industry Tour

Delegates can extend their experience with an exclusive industry tour to Shenzhen on 29 August.

Located just 40 minutes from Hong Kong by high-speed rail, Shenzhen is one of the world’s leading innovation hubs. Participants will gain firsthand insight into the region’s healthcare, technology, and manufacturing ecosystem through networking opportunities and curated company visits to Mindray, Alibaba, and the China Smart City Construction Investment Alliance. The delegation will travel by coach from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, with the journey taking approximately one hour, although border clearance times may vary depending on traffic at immigration and customs checkpoints. Representatives from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), together with executives from Shenzhen-based healthcare, biopharmaceutical, and medical consumables companies, will also be invited to join the programme, creating additional opportunities for networking and industry exchange.

Places are limited, and early registration is recommended.
