For millions of women living with lymphedema, daily life can often mean constant reminders of a condition that extends far beyond physical symptoms. Compression garments, bulky external pumps, and ongoing symptom management have long defined the patient experience.
Sub-Q Bionics wants to change that.
Following the close of its $1.5 million pre-seed round, the company is now building toward an anticipated $5 million seed raise as it advances what it describes as the world’s first fully implantable bionic lymphatic drainage system.
In conversation with Jordan Pollack, Co-Founder and CEO of Sub-Q Bionics, it became clear that this is not simply a story about capital raised. It is about a company aiming to shift the conversation in lymphedema care from maintenance to treatment.
For an early-stage MedTech company, securing funding in today’s market is no small achievement.
“It’s an incredible start to our journey,” Pollack shared. “Raising any money in this current environment, let alone a pre-seed round, is tremendous.”
The round comes at a meaningful stage for the company as it continues to validate its device and prepare for its next development milestones. Strategic collaborations have also played an important role in strengthening its trajectory, including work with the Weizmann Institute of Technology and Mayo Clinic.
According to Pollack, the funding will support completion of the proof-of-concept prototype, refinement of the regulatory pathway, and development of reimbursement and go-to-market strategies across key markets.
At the core of Sub-Q Bionics’ work is a clear and urgent clinical need.
Lymphedema, a chronic condition caused by lymphatic fluid buildup, often affects breast cancer survivors and can significantly impact quality of life. While current interventions focus largely on symptom management, definitive treatment options remain limited.
Sub-Q Bionics is developing what it calls a first-in-class fully implantable bionic lymphatic drainage system, designed to restore mobility and offer a more discreet alternative to existing external solutions.
The technology features a microporous implant designed to prevent clogging, internal fluid tracking capabilities, drainage to the peritoneum, and an app-based controller that enables personalized care and long-term monitoring.
Most importantly, it is designed with patients’ daily lives in mind.
“The biggest of all is that it restores freedom and mobility to all women suffering from lymphedema,” Pollack said. “It does not hinder enjoyment in life with annoying socks, garments or large pumping devices.”

The company’s origins trace back to focused research at the Weizmann Institute of Technology, where lymphedema had already been identified as a major unmet clinical need.
Pollack explained that after moving on from his previous company, VeinWay, he and co-founder David Knapp came across the intellectual property surrounding a microporous drain for lymphatic fluid removal.
What followed was extensive customer discovery and research that reinforced the scale of the opportunity.
“We thought that there had to be a better way,” he said, particularly for women who had already survived breast cancer and were still living with the daily burden of lymphedema.
That patient-first thinking continues to define the company’s direction.
As Pollack put it: all women suffering with lymphedema deserve to thrive and not just survive.
Sub-Q Bionics took the stage at MedTech World Middle East | Dubai 2026, where Pollack presented the company’s vision to the wider MedTech community.
For an early-stage founder, the value of in-person engagement remains significant.
“The best source of networking is with in-person meetings. There is no other way. Being on stage at Medtech World in Dubai presented me the opportunity to share our vision with like-minded people. I met investors and collaborators who I hope to leverage as we advance our mission,” he said.
The showcase opened doors to conversations with investors and potential collaborators who may play a role in the company’s next stage of growth.
Over the next 12 months, Sub-Q Bionics is targeting several major milestones.
These include completion of its beta prototype, additional pre-clinical testing, and progression toward a first-in-human feasibility study focused on safety and efficacy.
Alongside these technical milestones, the company is preparing for a planned $5 million seed raise, which Pollack says will provide the resources needed to accelerate development and clinical progress.
The longer-term ambition is even more compelling.
Pollack envisions Sub-Q Bionics becoming synonymous with lymphedema treatment itself — a company that changes how the condition is understood and managed.
“We will become the go-to treatment as patients are diagnosed because of the ease of implantation and the benefits the product offers.”
Pollack also had a direct message for founders, investors, and healthcare innovators following the company’s journey.
“Innovation in healthcare isn’t just about new technology — it’s about courage, tenacity, and persistence.”
His call was both practical and deeply relevant to the early-stage MedTech landscape: continued collaboration, access to capital, and support from clinicians, key opinion leaders, patients, and strategic partners.
For a company tackling a condition that affects millions, the journey is only beginning.
But with fresh funding secured and a larger seed round on the horizon, Sub-Q Bionics is positioning itself as one of the names to watch in the evolving future of lymphedema care.
Following the success of its flagship event in Dubai earlier in February, MedTech World is now heading to Florida for its next major edition. The North America event in West Palm Beach will bring together founders, investors, healthcare leaders, and policymakers to explore commercialization pathways, cross-border collaboration, and capital deployment in MedTech.
