At a time when surgical innovation often hinges on access rather than efficacy, BRIJ Medical’s Brijjit® just took a major step forward. The company’s flagship wound closure device, praised for its ability to reduce wound breakdown and improve scar outcomes, is now officially available to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) healthcare providers through the ECAT (Electronic Catalog) procurement system.
This isn’t just another product hitting a distribution channel. For many patients, especially veterans and active-duty personnel, this development may mean fewer surgical complications, faster recovery, and better long-term healing.
“This ECAT position underscores our joint dedication to advancing veteran and servicemember care,” said Tim Gleeson, CEO of BRIJ Medical. “Partnering with Red One Medical ensures that Brijjit is not only clinically effective, but also procurement‑ready for federal healthcare providers.”

Brijjit® is a force-modulating tissue bridge that offloads tension from surgical incisions. The device eliminates the need for final-layer sutures or staples, promotes faster closure, and significantly reduces the chance of wound breakdown, a common complication that can lead to infection, extended recovery, and reoperation. Clinical data backs its promise: Brijjit® delivers a 90% reduction in wound breakdown and results in 38% smaller scars eight weeks post-op.
The ECAT listing was made possible through a partnership with Red One Medical, a CVE-certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Their involvement not only facilitates procurement within federal healthcare systems but also reinforces the impact SDVOSBs can have in advancing access to cutting-edge technology.
“We’re honored to facilitate BRIJ Medical’s innovative wound‑healing solution through ECAT,” said Jonathan West, EVP Sales at Red One Medical. “This partnership exemplifies how SDVOSBs can efficiently deliver top-tier care technologies to VA and DoD markets.”
For those keeping an eye on promising medtech innovations, Brijjit® may already sound familiar. Tim Gleeson pitched the device earlier this summer at MedTech World Bay Area 2025, drawing attention for its practical application and ease of use. If you missed it, watch him on stage here:
With ECAT access now live, Brijjit® is primed for broader adoption within federal healthcare systems. Procurement officers, surgeons, and decision-makers in VA and DoD settings can now request demos or place orders directly.
