MedTech World marked a milestone this June with the successful conclusion of MedTech World Bay Area 2025, hosted in collaboration with MedTech Innovator. Set in one of the most dynamic centers of healthcare innovation, San Jose, California, the event welcomed over 350 attendees, including 100 startups, 150 investors, and key stakeholders from across the global MedTech value chain.

“The Bay Area has long been a proving ground for MedTech breakthroughs. Our aim wasn’t to just visit; it was to plug into the energy here, contribute value, and connect this community with the broader global ecosystem we’re building,” said Dr. Dylan Attard, CEO of MedTech World. “We’ve seen strong interest from U.S.-based players in exploring international opportunities, and this is exactly where our role becomes strategic—curating bridges between regions that need to work together more intentionally.”

This event marked MedTech World’s return to the U.S. with a clear purpose, that is, to bridge regional innovation ecosystems, connect early- and growth-stage companies with international capital, and foster meaningful dialogue around scaling, regulation, and partnership.

“We have 100 or so startups from MedTech Innovator who are vetted out of thousands of companies who applied for the program this year,” said Paul Grand, CEO of MedTech Innovator. “So, if you are an investor, then you are in for an incredible treat as these are the best startups in the entire world. It’s hard to get investors to come to conferences, especially if it’s a new conference, and we have over 140 investors who are registered for this conference. That’s incredibly reaffirming that there is a lot of interest in what MedTech World has built over the years.”

A Platform for Global Investment and Strategic Growth

A standout element of the event was the presence of the MedTech Innovator 2025 Accelerator cohort, who took the stage across curated pitch sessions and one-on-one meetings. Consequently, these carefully selected startups had the opportunity to pitch to and engage with investors from North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

During the event, startups tackling everything from surgical robotics to diagnostics and digital therapeutics benefited from targeted exposure to international VCs, corporate venture teams, and domain-specific investors. For many founders, it was their first experience navigating conversations about cross-border capital and global expansion strategies.

Ken Mariash, CEO of Sinaptica Therapeutics and part of the 2025 MedTech Innovator cohort, commented, “There is a mix of resources and connections that you would never normally make in a course of months, and all of this is happening in the space of days. It is a fantastic opportunity to make connections, get access to resources, and meet fellow startups.”

The content programme featured a focused mix of panels and fireside chats built around insight and action. Some of the discussions included:

  • “Fundraising Across Borders: Going Global to Raise Capital”, a candid fireside between sector veterans on navigating international fundraising dynamics.
  • “The ‘No’ Behind the Smile: Why Promising Pitches Still Don’t Get Funded”, where founders shared raw insights about rejection, perseverance, and building with intention.
  • From Non-Dilutive to Strategic Capital: Building a Layered Funding Strategy”, which broke down how startups can blend grants, strategic partnerships, and equity funding to support long-term growth without giving up unnecessary control.

Each session was tailored to provide practical takeaways while encouraging in-depth conversations in the hallways, breakout areas, and networking lounges throughout the day.
