With a staggering market value of €37.4 billion and over 1,300 companies in operation, France’s MedTech sector is not just thriving, it’s transforming the future of healthcare in Europe and beyond. According to the U.S. International Trade Administration, the French medical device industry is the second-largest in Western Europe, trailing only Germany. Exports alone reached €9.5 billion in 2023, representing 25% of total turnover.

And the momentum is only building.

A Thriving, Innovation-Focused Ecosystem

The MedTech landscape in France is dominated by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with 92% of companies falling into this category. Interestingly, foreign-owned firms make up a third of all enterprises in the sector but generate two-thirds of its revenue—a clear sign of the international attractiveness of the French market.

Approximately 95,000 people are employed across the industry, which spans diagnostics, surgical robotics, imaging technologies, and implantable devices. Paris, Lyon, and Grenoble have emerged as regional innovation hubs, powered by partnerships between startups, hospitals, and public research institutions such as INSERM, CNRS, and the CEA.

Government support has also played a pivotal role. Under the ambitious €54 billion France 2030 investment plan, €7.5 billion is being funneled into the health sector. This includes targeted investments in artificial intelligence, digital health, and robotic surgery, aiming to make France a global reference point in cutting-edge medical technologies.

Mathieu Charleux, CEO of MD101, emphasized:This partnership creates a powerful ecosystem where innovation, expertise, and market access converge. LallianSe brings together France’s most promising MedTech innovators, while Medtech World provides the global platform for visibility and connection. MD101 complements this perfectly by transforming those innovations into market-ready solutions—we architect scalable business models, navigate complex regulatory landscapes, and orchestrate international expansion strategies. Together, we’re not just supporting individual companies; we’re building a comprehensive pipeline that takes French MedTech from breakthrough concept to worldwide commercial success.”

This triad of expertise, MedTech World’s global platform, LallianSe’s integrator and original model, and MD101’s regulatory and go-to-market precision, marks a pivotal step in supporting high-potential health technologies from concept to successful international commercialization.
