Insilico Medicine, a clinical-stage biotechnology company powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI), has entered into a strategic collaboration with global pharmaceutical manufacturing leader Bora Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. The alliance, which could exceed $2.5 billion if fully implemented, marks a significant step toward integrating AI-driven drug discovery with large-scale pharmaceutical development and commercialization.
The collaboration aims to combine Insilico Medicine’s proprietary Pharma.AI platform with Bora Pharmaceuticals’ expertise in drug development, manufacturing, quality management, regulatory processes, and commercialization. Together, the companies plan to establish a more connected and efficient model for bringing new medicines from discovery to patients.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will develop a broad cooperation framework, with individual projects and implementation details to be formalized through future agreements. By linking AI-powered target discovery, molecule generation, and molecular optimization with automation-driven manufacturing and quality systems, the partnership seeks to accelerate the design, development, production, and delivery of innovative therapies for unmet medical needs.
Beyond drug discovery, the collaboration also focuses on expanding AI adoption across Bora Pharmaceuticals’ global operations. Insilico Medicine will support Bora in strengthening its AI capabilities through solutions spanning manufacturing, supply chain management, distribution, and corporate operations. The companies also plan to explore AI and automation applications in development planning, process optimization, pharmaceutical development, manufacturing readiness, and quality systems.
Bobby Sheng, Founder and Chairman of Bora Group and CEO of Bora Pharmaceuticals, described the partnership as an important milestone in the company’s evolution.
“Insilico Medicine has demonstrated to the industry that generative AI can efficiently identify novel targets, design new molecules, and advance drug candidates into clinical development,” Sheng said. “This strategic partnership marks a significant step in Bora Pharmaceuticals’ transformation, signaling its evolution from a leading partner in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing into a broader drug innovation ecosystem.”
He added that integrating Insilico’s AI capabilities with Bora’s expertise in formulation, chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC), regulatory submissions, production scale-up, quality management, supply chain, and commercialization could streamline the journey from research to commercial products.
Sheng also emphasized that AI’s full impact on healthcare will depend on extending its role beyond discovery into development and manufacturing. Rather than simply adding AI to existing workflows, he said the companies aim to develop a scalable and repeatable model that reimagines how medicines are developed, produced, and delivered.

He noted that combining Insilico’s AI-native platform, which spans target discovery, molecule generation, and molecular optimization, with Bora’s development and commercialization capabilities creates an opportunity to demonstrate the speed, efficiency, and scalability of AI-driven drug discovery on a broader scale.
The collaboration reflects a shared vision that future drug development will increasingly rely on AI-native design, data-rich decision-making, and automation throughout the pharmaceutical value chain. Both companies believe that combining AI-enabled research with advanced manufacturing and commercialization capabilities can improve the efficiency of bringing innovative medicines to market.
Insilico Medicine has established itself as one of the leading companies applying generative AI to pharmaceutical research. While traditional early-stage drug discovery often requires between 2.5 and four years, the company says its AI-powered platform reduces the timeline to approximately 12 to 18 months from project initiation to preclinical candidate nomination.
Since 2021, Insilico Medicine has nominated 31 preclinical candidates, with 13 receiving Investigational New Drug (IND) approval, demonstrating the platform’s ability to accelerate early-stage development across multiple disease areas.
Alongside expanding its drug discovery pipeline, the company continues to enhance its AI infrastructure through MMAI Gym, a scientific AI training and benchmarking platform developed using thousands of research benchmarks.
