The first day of MedTech Malta 2025 wrapped up on a high note this evening, marking a vibrant start to one of Europe’s most anticipated MedTech gatherings. From visionary government participation and thought-provoking panels to high-energy networking and innovation showcases, Day 1 set a powerful tone for the days to follow.
The morning opened with strong representation from the Government of Malta, who reiterated the nation’s unwavering support for MedTech innovation under Malta Vision 2050. Government officials emphasised Malta’s role as a fast-evolving hub for research, regulation, and investment, highlighting the country’s growing partnerships with global health leaders. Their presence reinforced Malta’s ambition to create a thriving ecosystem where technology, policy, and patient care align.

Throughout the day, the Mediterranean Conference Centre hosted a range of panels that explored some of the industry’s most crucial topics.
One of the highlights was “Navigating EU & US Regulations: Key Compliance Trends for MedTech,” sponsored by Veeva Systems, CS Life Sciences, Blue Goat Cyber, Malta Conformity Assessment, and Alira Health. Regulatory experts and MedTech leaders unpacked the latest compliance challenges and opportunities facing companies as they expand across borders, offering actionable insights on data governance, clinical validation, and MDR alignment.

Meanwhile, the “Digital OR & Robotics: From Imaging to Intelligent Surgery and Dentistry” panel, sponsored by Qualium Systems and Lupin Dental, captivated attendees with discussions on the growing convergence of robotics, AI imaging, and data-driven surgical precision. Panellists showcased how intelligent operating rooms are reshaping clinical outcomes and transforming surgical workflows worldwide.
Learning continued across Vassalli Hall, where four workshops drew full audiences throughout the day. Organised by the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN), Amell Law Firm, and the Cancer Research and Innovation Hub Malta, these sessions covered vital topics from regulatory compliance and workforce engagement to research collaboration and patient safety.
The Med-In Pharma: Innovation Showcase and paper presentations also stood out, offering a window into pioneering technologies and academic research driving progress across diagnostics, therapeutics, and medical device innovation.

Midday discussions shifted to La Cassiere Hall for a special luncheon titled “Crossing Borders in MedTech: How to Thrive in Both the U.S. and EU Markets.” Hosted by Blue Goat Cyber, Alira Health, and MedTech Impact Partners, the session brought together entrepreneurs and investors to discuss transatlantic expansion, funding pathways, and how startups can navigate regulatory, cultural, and commercial challenges across both continents.

The Startup Village buzzed throughout the day as early-stage companies showcased technologies tackling healthcare’s most complex challenges—from AI-powered diagnostics to digital surgery systems and smart wearables. MTI alumni companies also returned to share their growth journeys, focusing on recent milestones and what’s next for their teams.
Networking moments were abundant, offering attendees plenty of chances to connect. The Happy Hour at the Investor’s Lounge, hosted by Prolucid Technologies, created a relaxed environment for informal introductions and collaborations.

As the sun set, guests gathered at the Networking Reception at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, proudly sponsored by Dedalus. The event celebrated partnership and innovation under the Maltese skyline, with Dedalus reaffirming its dedication to building a digitally connected healthcare ecosystem that empowers patients, clinicians, and innovators alike.

The evening culminated in an exclusive VIP Networking Receptions, hosted by Malta Enterprise, Visit Malta and MedTech World, at MUZA and Palazzo Preca. Industry leaders, investors, and policymakers came together in an intimate setting to reflect on the day’s achievements and explore new collaborations.

With such a dynamic opening, anticipation for Day 2 is high. Tomorrow promises another full day of transformative discussions, startup pitches, and workshops as MedTech Malta continues to foster global connections and inspire innovation in healthcare technology.
