If you were at MedTech Malta 2025, you already know what an experience it was.
If you missed it, consider this your reminder to plan early for next year, because this edition delivered conversations, announcements, and moments that will be talked about long after the lights at the Mediterranean Conference Centre have dimmed.
More than 2,000 attendees filled Valletta, representing a truly global mix. Europe accounted for 60 percent of participants, North America made up 27 percent, the Middle East contributed 7.5 percent, Asia Pacific brought 3.5 percent, and the remaining 2 percent came from other regions. The diversity in backgrounds, markets, and perspectives created a dynamic atmosphere that made every session and conversation feel richer.
For three full days, the Mediterranean Conference Centre buzzed with panels, debates, workshops, tours, and networking moments that many attendees described as the highlight of their year. The combination of global reach and Malta’s intimate setting helped create connections that were both meaningful and long lasting.
Take a look at everything that contributed to MedTech Malta 2025 being a memorable few days.
Day 1 opened with a powerful address from Dr. Dylan Attard, CEO and Co-founder of MedTech World. He shared a vision that resonated across the room. MedTech World will expand from one flagship gathering to four in 2026 and beyond.
His goal is simple but meaningful: the MedTech community should not feel divided between insiders and newcomers. Access should be widened so that knowledge, funding, and opportunities reach everyone building in this space.
This set the tone for the days that followed. A community that grows together benefits all its members.

The first unveiling was a major one. MedTech World Dubai 2026 will take place from 11 to 13 February at the Intercontinental Festival City.
Dubai, with its global reach and forward-looking environment, will welcome founders, investors, researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders on a scale not seen before in the region.
One of the standout appearances was from the Prime Minister of Malta, Hon. Robert Abela.
He highlighted that Malta’s future is strongly linked to science, technology, and humanity working in harmony. Malta Vision 2050 featured prominently in his message, underscoring the country’s long-term commitment to innovation and health technology.

Hon. Dr. Alex Borg, leader of the Maltese Nationalist Party, shared his perspective as well. He called for even stronger backing for the MedTech sector and reinforced the role Malta can play in the development and testing of impactful health solutions.
The presence of both government and opposition leaders underlined just how important the MedTech sector has become for Malta’s progress.
A truly significant announcement came from the Cancer Research and Innovation Hub Malta.
CRIHM is now officially recognised as a European Cancer Mission Hub, a development that was met with loud applause and a sense of pride among local and international researchers.
This step opens new pathways for collaboration, clinical research, and engagement at a European level.
Pitch competitions at MedTech Malta always draw excitement, but this year’s finale had an extra spark.
Galenband, led by Co-Founder and CEO Eddie McDaid, secured the top spot with a breakthrough solution for intermittent atrial fibrillation. Their 90-day continuous ECG band offers a comfortable, wire-free, adhesive-free experience that requires no surgery.
The judges, representing expertise across investment, clinical strategy, and product development, commended the solution for its practicality and potential impact. The audience shared the same sentiment, making the win feel well deserved.

One of the biggest highlights this year was the introduction of exclusive forums tailored for specific attendee groups. Investors gathered to discuss capital deployment and early-stage challenges. Commercial leaders explored market entry and health system adoption. CEOs exchanged insights on leadership, operational pressures, and decision-making.

These rooms felt honest and grounded, and many attendees said that these sessions alone made their trip to Malta worthwhile.
Across the Mediterranean Conference Centre, the two stages hosted more than 50 panels and keynotes. Topics spanned AI in diagnostics, robotics, surgical advancements, clinical data, global regulatory trends, funding climates, patient-centric design, digital therapeutics, and more. It was impossible to catch everything, which created a sense of constant movement and kept attendees fully engaged.

Workshops offered deeper learning opportunities, including sessions supported by MUMN, AMELL Law Firm PLLC, and the Cancer Research and Innovation Hub Malta.
A full-day surgical conference led by the Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Society of Malta (LESM) also gave clinicians hands-on learning grounded in real practice.
MedTech Malta never forgets its roots. Guided cultural tours took attendees through the streets of Valletta and the quiet beauty of Mdina. These experiences were a refreshing introduction to the busy agenda and offered international visitors a deeper connection to the island.

Another favourite was the guided tour of DiHubMT. Attendees had the chance to explore the innovation infrastructure behind Malta’s growing tech ecosystem. Seeing the facilities firsthand provided valuable context to the discussions happening on stage.

MTI alumni took to the stage to share their progress and the milestones they achieved over the past year. Their updates showed how the MedTech Innovator programme continues to fuel new ideas and provides emerging founders with a platform to grow, collaborate, and gain visibility within the wider MedTech community.
The Awards Ceremony honoured individuals and organisations going the extra mile to make healthcare better for patients and communities. Stories shared on stage were heartfelt, personal, and served as a reminder of why the MedTech field matters. Click here to meet the winners.

The community also rallied behind charitable causes through the annual auction. This year’s contributions will support the meaningful work led by the SiGMA Foundation.
People left MedTech Malta 2025 with full notebooks, new plans, unexpected connections, and ideas they were eager to explore further.
The most memorable part of the event was the atmosphere created by everyone who attended. Conversations happened in session rooms, on terraces, during coffee breaks,on boats, in taxis, and even while walking through Valletta’s narrow streets. Many attendees said they made connections here that they had been trying to establish for months.
This was the essence of MedTech Malta 2025: a place where global leaders, startups, clinicians, investors, and innovators came together and created something that felt meaningful.

If you missed this year, make sure you don’t miss what’s coming next. With four flagship events planned for 2026, the pace is picking up, and the community is expanding fast.
